General Association of Uppsala Statistics Students
The Organisation

GAUSS – General Association of Uppsala Statistics Students – is a non-profit student organisation based in Uppsala, Sweden. The association aims to bring together students with an interest in statistics by fostering a strong sense of community and creating opportunities for both social and academic engagement. Through its activities, GAUSS seeks to encourage collaboration, networking, and a broader interest in statistics as a field of study.
GAUSS organizes a variety of events and activities to achieve its goals. These include social events such as pub nights, dinner parties, and informal gatherings, as well as larger events like kick-offs, trips, and collaborations with external partners. In addition, the association aims to create opportunities for discussion, inspiration, and knowledge-sharing within and beyond its member base.
The organisation is structured into two main parts: the First Moment and the Second Moment. The First Moment consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and is responsible for the overall management, administration, and direction of the association. The Second Moment consists of additional board members with specific areas of responsibility, such as events, marketing, social activities, and external relations, who are responsible for planning and executing the association’s operations .
To ensure continuity and collaboration, each area of responsibility may be shared by two individuals. This allows for flexibility in the organisation and enables more members to take an active role in shaping GAUSS and its activities .
GAUSS is independent and does not have any political, ideological, or theoretical affiliations.
